PARI SAN  are Iran-born musician Parissa Eskandari and the Berlin-based producer Paul Brenning -together they conjure sensual, urban songscapes between pop and avant-garde.The special chemistry between Pari and Paul creates sheer, electrifying tension: Iranian flair meets Berlin, oriental mysticism meets western rationality, impulsiveness collides with technical precision. Eskandari's unmistakable vocal style effortlessly dissolves the boundaries between day and dream. On their much-acclaimed 2016 "Frozen Time" EP (including collaborations with Markus Ganter and Robot Koch as well as a feverish, fascinating music video of "Rammstein" director Zoran Bihać), PARI SAN already set a massive exclamation point with tons of style and elegant, modern Pop-Electronica. But their long-awaited debut album will have a much bigger surprise in store. The painstaking, passionate collaboration with electronic music innovator Markus Popp aka Oval, who has co-produced their album, has resulted in radically innovative, yet masterfully crafted SONGS

Pari San symbolize a collision of two worlds. On the one hand there’s microsystems technologist Paul Brenning from Berlin, who grew up listening to classical music and keeps a level head in producing Pari San’s electronic synthesizer realms. On the other hand there’s Iranian-born Parissa Eskandari, who grew up in Düsseldorf and has a more intuitive-emotional approach to music and a voice that oscillates between Oriental and Scandinavian influences. Pari studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorfartacademy from the age of 16 before going on to concentrate on music and has worked with a whole range of artists such as Oval before launching the band together with Paul, whom she met in South Germany during a creative period of music production.Pari San started to produce their very own brand of pop music with an intense attitude towards the general boundaries of that genre, walking on a thin line between pop songwriting, electronic music production and extrasensory sounds, which may well be based on their Black Forest / Teheran backgrounds. Iranian flair meets Berlin, rationality meets effervescence, control meets impulsiveness, an eagerness to experiment meets emotionality Pari San weave an astonishing fabric from all these opposites, a parallel universe of voices, melodies, loops, beats and sounds. Avant-garde and different, sensual and magical, pop and high art all at the same time somewhere between Fever Ray, FKA Twigs and Björk.These days, Pari San live and work in Berlin and are looking back at a series of concerts and very special nights, e.g. at the infamous Fusion Festival, touring Paris, London and Japan or supporting Austra at Berghain and Roisin Murphy at the Tollwood Festival. In London they met the electronic Artist Kid Simius withwhom they created the Feature-Single »Grapefruit«for his release »Jirafa Waves«2016.»Frozen Time« is Pari San’s first EP 2016. It features songs that were created with a great penchant for experimentation and was produced by the artists themselves at the Flying Carpet Studios. The lyrics testify to exceptional situations, to experiences and subjects that could never be too sensitive. The duo prefers to transform its idiosyncratic visions into reality rather than pander to the mainstream which can be heard on every one of the five tracks on the »Frozen Time« EP.The songs move between hypnagogic avant-garde pop music, artistically arranged vintage R&B and emotionally sweltering pop electronica, a combination that’s accessible to a wide range of listeners. Beat landscapes, carpets of synthesizer sounds and oppressively deep beats see the boundaries between daydream and nightmare blur into a state of suspension between different worlds. The co-production »Polyhorns«, created together with Robot Koch, is the sonic snapshot of a psychosis, a kind of being conscious in unconsciousness. Its only points of reference are the divine beings who call for presentness and self-love»Nighteye« is the product of another collaboration with Robot Koch, hovering inthe night, powered by forceful percussions and wafting bass sounds. »In The Smoke« is an ecstatically pulsating dance track, while »Two Perfect Lovers«, traces the path of two lovers.

The title track »Frozen Time«, accesses the mind at a very deep level while talking about the state of a blister-like frozen time and being carried away to other spheres by Parissa’s reverberating, breathy singing voice. The video to support the track was directed by none less than Zoran Bihać, who has shot a number of videos for Rammstein and presents the duo in the »Frozen Time« clip in a Lynch-esque fever dream which explores the balance of power between men and women, and prevailing gender roles. This is both daring and necessary and emphasises once again the special positionthat Pari San enjoy on the pop music scene. Something which their debut album »R.I.P. Identification« which is going to be released 7.9.18 via FlyingCarpetRecordsis likely to accentuate even more strongly.
